In The Time Of The Coronavirus
Last updated: 18 June 2020
Yay, Singapore will move into Phase 2 on 19 June 2020!
THE BLOOM ROOM IS OPEN FOR ONLINE ORDERS.
You may browse our webstore, add your desired bouquet/arrangement to cart and check out accordingly. You will be able to choose between islandwide delivery (from $15.00 and up) and self-collection (free, limited slots daily).
But as we adjust to a new normal, we are also making some changes.
- Online orders only: Due to limited manpower and safe distancing concerns, we will no longer be accepting appointments until further notice. All our products are listed online, so you're definitely not missing out! If you have queries about a certain product, we will be happy to answer them if you email flowers@bloomroom.sg.
- SafeEntry: All customers who enter the studio will have to check-in via SafeEntry for contact-tracing purposes and have their temperatures taken. As such, we strongly recommend that customers continue to choose delivery as a method to receive their flowers. If not, we will strive for a contactless pass.
- Going cashless: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recommended cashless transactions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. So from 1 July, we will accept payment only by Credit Card/Bank Transfer/PayNow and Paypal. Please see Payment for more details.
We will continue to keep the health and safety of our tiny team (of 2!), customers and flower recipients in mind. At the same time, we're also doing our best to get your flowers delivered as efficiently and as safely as possible.
For a better understanding of how we continue to operate during this period, please refer to our FAQs below.
FAQs:
Is it still safe to send flowers?
Thankfully, it is still safe to send and receive flowers.
According to information published on the World Health Organisation’s website: “the likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.”
How can I order flowers now?
You can safely shop on www.bloomroom.sg as all our available designs have been listed online - you're really not missing out! You will only be able to opt for either delivery or self-collection.
What is your studio situation like now?
We have a tiny team to begin with, and have trimmed our staff strength during the circuit breaker to just TWO persons. All studio staff will practise temperature-taking and safe distancing while on duty. Work areas will be routinely sanitised. All staff and delivery personnel entering the studio have to use SafeEntry for contact-tracing purposes.
As we will be overwhelmed with the processing of web orders and the crafting of your bouquets, we will not be able to handle phone calls for now. Please direct all enquiries to flowers@bloomroom.sg and we will reply as soon as we can. We seek your understanding in this.
Why don't you hire more staff?
It's always been tough running a small business. It's going to get even tougher. As our last contract staff has left our studio to seek a full-time position after graduation in May 2020, we are currently not actively seeking to hire more staff.
There are safe distancing concerns - keeping the team lean will help minimise the spread of COVID-19. We'd also prefer to be financially prudent to be able to tide through the year. Part-time help to assist with answering phone calls, stock-taking and etc just seems to be a luxury for now.
We remain committed and responsive over emails (especially if yours is a confirmed order!). Please email flowers@bloomroom.sg if you need to get in touch with us. Your kind understanding will help a small, no, micro business like ours, survive the pandemic.
What is your delivery process like?
- All completed floral orders are placed at a designated corner in our studio for contactless pick-up by our delivery personnel.
- All delivery personnel are wearing masks at all times.
- At the point of delivery, we will strive for contactless delivery whenever possible. This means that the flowers may be left at your recipient's doorstep for safe and easy retrieval.
How should I request for Contactless Delivery?
During checkout, please do the following:
1) Please tick the "Leave at Doorstep" option. This gives our delivery driver permission to leave the flowers at your recipient’s doorstep if no-one is home. Our delivery team has actually been doing this since before the pandemic, so please rest assured that our delivery drivers are committed, responsible and experienced enough to deliver your order without contact.
2) You may leave additional instructions (eg: Contactless Delivery / please call ahead before delivery/ please knock once/ please leave an SMS after leaving at doorstep) under our "Special Instructions" field.
We will no longer require a signature on our Delivery Order if your recipient is uncomfortable with the close contact required to take a pen and sign.
**Contactless delivery may not be possible for certain landed properties (with no proper shelter/safe corner), condominiums (with restricted access), and walk-up apartments (with locked gates). Please ensure that your recipient's address is accessible.

May I request for a specific delivery timing?
We can state your instructions on the Delivery Order so that our driver can take special note. But while we always try our best to accommodate such requests, I'm afraid that there's no guarantee especially during this period due to:
- Delays at screening stations due to temperature checks
- Safe distancing restrictions in public due to the latest COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Bill (Eg: our driver will not be able to wait in public to deliver your flowers at a stated time).
How will the worldwide disruptions to the flower supply chain affect me?
As worldwide efforts to contain the virus has affected flower imports into Singapore, specific flower types may be unavailable from time to time. All these mean that recreating the exact bouquet or arrangement pictured on the website may not always be possible.
When substitution is necessary, we will strive to ensure that the final bouquet or arrangement closely resembles what you see on the website.
We are constantly liaising with local flower wholesalers to ensure regular and quality supply.
We recommend, as always, our "From The Flower Fields" range that allow our floral team to exercise their creativity to create designs using the flowers at hand.

In addition, you may find that flower quality may suffer during this period. This is due to flower imports being stuck / delayed at customs before reaching our shores. We've experienced some difficulties recently, but will continue to try our best to only use the freshest blooms possible.
We thank you for your understanding.
Stay safe, everyone. Together, we will pull through.
